foto grupo tangoFounded in 1978 by its conductor, Argentine composer Alicia Terzian,the Grupo Encuentros has the purpose of giving a strong impulse to the knowledge of music written by contemporary Argentine, Latin American and universal composers.
The solists are: Marta Blanco (mezzo), Fabio Mazzitelli (flute), Eduardo Ihidoype (clarinet), Sergio Polizzi (violin), Carlos Nozzi (cello) and Claudio Espector (piano), under the conducting of Alicia Terzian.The Tango Fantasies programm includes 2 dancers and 1 bandoneonist.
The Grupo Encuentros is the unique group in the whole Latin America and one of the few in the world that has accomplished – and continues to do – international concerts tournées.
They commissioned works to the most important Argentine and foreign composers and premiered them in the annual Encuentros International Festivas in Buenos Aires as well as abroad.

In December 2009 they recorded and present to the critics 2 new CDs:”30 years with the tango” and “30 years with the contemporary music”.

ALICIA TERZIAN , Composer, Musicologist and Conductor

She is the author of over 80 compositions for orchestra, solists and orchestra, chamber orchestra with/without solista, chamber music, choral music, musical theatre, instrumental music, on-stage music, vocal works and multimedia music.
In 2003 , and in the frame of the General Assembly of the Internacional Music Council of the UNESCO, she was elected Honorary Member, which placed her close to distinguished personalities of world of music.
Among many decorations, she is member of Fine Arts Academy of Chile, Chevallier of the Arts of the Government of France, received the Bula from the Armenian Catolicós Vazquen 1st and the Picasso-Miró Medal awarded by the General Director of the UNESCO (Paris) for her services rendered to the Argentine composers in the world.
She is invited annually to give Seminars of composition and contemporary chamber music in the most important Universities and Conservatories of America and Europe and is often invited as Jury in International Competitions.
MARTA BLANCO, mezzosoprano awarded 7 national and international prizes. She performed main roles at the Colon Opera House of Buenos Aires and in theatres along South America, performing also the international chamber repertoire. She is professor of singing at the National University Institute of Argentina and coordinates Workshops on the speciality in South America and Europe. She founded and conducts the Juvenile Opera Group.
CLAUDIO ESPECTOR mastered the piano in the Conservatory of Moscow. He was the Dean of the Conservatory of Music Manuel de Falla and presently is the Director of the ZAP Programme of Juvenile Orchestras. In 2008 he formed 14 new children-juvenile orchestras.
SERGIO POLIZZI, brilliant violinist, integrates the National Symphony Orchestra. He usually performs as outstanding solist in different chamber music ensembles.
CARLOS NOZZI, cellist, was solist in the Orchestra of Teatro de la Moneda of Brussels and at present is solist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Colon Opera House. He frequently acts under the baton of very important Argentine and foreign conductors. He also offers outstanding performances in different chamber music ensembles.
FABIO MAZZITELLI, solist flute of the Orchestra of the Colon Opera House. Professor of flute in the Conservatory of Buenos Aires City, has developed an important career as solist as well as integrating chamber music ensembles. He is invited annually to participate in Flute International Festivals.
MATIAS TCHICOUREL, clarinet soloist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Teatro Colon, professor ,is part of many chamber music ensembles.
DANIEL RUGGIERO, is a young bandoneonist with a very important career playing tango in many Festivals in Europe and Far East .He is also composer


Natalia Mazer was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
In the last years she performed at the following Festivals: Torino Anima Tango 4to nternational tango argentino meeting , Torino – Italia, 22 diciembre / 7 enero 2006; Amarcord Tango, 3ra. edition Riccione – Italia 11 / 17 june 2007; Reseña Cultural Bologna Estate al Vicolo Bolognetti 28 junio 2007; Performance of tango for the Competition Regional Miss Italia ’07 el 07/07/2007 in Torino and Torino Anima Tango 26 diciembre / 06 enero 2008.
Since 1997 Natalia Mazer dance Tango Argentino with LUCA DONATO(italian dancer).

Luca Donato is italian citizen and diplomed as a Arts,music and show  in Bologna (Italy)
In 1995 /1996 baila is a principal dancer of the show:”CABARETANGO” (presentd in Emilia Romagna)
In 1997 he promote the “SUMMER FESTIVAL”, international tango festival in Bologna.
In1998 he travel to Buenos Aires to study the tango dance with the most iméportant argentine dancersand start giving leçons of tango dance and dancing in different shows and TV  in Bologna(Italy).In 1999 dance the show RED SHOWS TANGO in Italy .In 2001/2008 is a principal dancer of the shows organized by the Chamber Orchestra of Bologna in a important tournées in all Italy (Salerno,Spoleto Festival,Ancona,Bologna,Calabria,Lugo,etc)
In 2009 start working with the Grupo Encuentros in the tango programms all over the world as a duo :NATALIA MAZER-LUCA DONATO

Both are professors of tango in Bologna with a big succes.

Very close to the XXth century classicals, the second program of Grupo Encuentros included composers whose works, thanks to the clear comments by Alicia Terzian, became easier to the audience. Boris Alvarado’s work was performed with Marta Blanco’s vocal richness. The homage that Luciano Berio rendered to the religious leader Martin Luther King with its sharp instrumental accents, was placed in the melodic line, perflectly sang by Marta Blanco generating moments of deep emotions.
No doubt, just an instrumental group as Encuentros is able to give efficient coherence to the insubstantial sonorous language expressed by Boulez in Derive (1984) in an irregular and restless sonorous flowing.
Canciones de Cabaret (Cabaret songs) (1937/39) by Benjamin Britten and the fine and ironic sense of humor that Marta Blanco’s voice gave to it, made the work live again with the support of pianist Claudio Espector and the whole ensemble.
Likewise, the Grupo Encuentros performed Frank Schreker’s Der wind (1909)
Finally, Les yeux fertiles, by Alicia Terzian based upon poems of Paul Eluard was the brilliant closing of the efficiency of an ensemble together with the professionalism of a tireless composer. LA NACION –

The 30th anniversary of Grupo Encuentros conducted by composer Alicia Terzian, mainly devoted to premiere and make widely known modern and contemporary works, specially those by Argentine composers – both in the country and abroad, are eloquent examples of their success.
The musicians are top level professionals who interprete the XXth century ‘classicals’. Therefore, Alicia Terzian counts on a ductil ensemble whose versatility allows them to deal with the most varied expressions.
The Three Poems by Mallarmé (1913), in which Ravel mixes his restless searches with the symbolic poetry, were performed with a perfect vocalization and French pronounciation.
Villa-Lobos, Choros Nº 7 (1924) has an excellent interpretation of its original combinations, its rhythmic emphasys and timbre. Baladas Amarillas (1952) written by the unforgettable Virtú Maragno were reedited with strength and freshness by Marta Blanco accompanied by flute, cello, percussions. Cristóbal Colón (1925) by Julián Carrillo, suggestive work in which the Mexican composer widens the chromatic scale to achieve a microtonalism,a fact that anticipated in many decades the trend led by Aloys Hába in Europe.Likewise, Rodolfo Arizaga’s Cantata Martirio de Santa Olalla (1952) was an admirable version.

The three concerts are in charge of the Grupo Encuentros conducted by Alicia Terzian since the time of its foundation. Since then they have accomplished a wide task to make the contemporary music known both in the country and abroad.
The excellent technique and the iconoclastic atmosphere of the programs were shown thoroughly by relevant musicians such as Marta Blanco (mezzo), Claudio Espector (piano), Sergio Polizzi (violin), Fabio Mazzitelli (flute), Eduardo Ihidoype (clarinet), Gastón Frosio (horn) and Arauco Yepes (vibraphone). Canciones de cabaret – Cabaret songs – were also very interesting, written in 1937/39 by Benjamin Britten. Marta Blanco’s dramatic voice gave life to these songs as well as to the beautiful Les yeux fertiles by Alicia Terzian based upon poems of Paul Eluard.
The controversial XXth century was represented by some of its most representative voices.
